Rice Paper Scissors was created in 2011 by Valerie Luu and Katie Kwan. Inspired by the sidewalk dining and street food they experienced in Vietnam, Kwan and Luu wanted to recreate the experience here in San Francisco — complete with little red stools, Cambodian pop music, and a rotating menu of regional Vietnamese dishes handmade with Bay Area produce and ethos. Valerie and Katie were looking for a smart labelling solution to their food packaging to differentiate protein types. Rather than leading with english, we decided this made for a good opportunity to teach customers some basic Vietnamese words.
